PTI, Mumbai, 13 May 2008

Music composer Rahul Sharma's album Confluence II, in collaboration with French pianist Richard Clayderman was launched by megastar Amitabh Bachchan here. The confluence of Santoor and Piano was brought together by Rahul and Richard after the success of their maiden project "Confluence".

The album has been brought out under the music label of Sa Re Ga Ma.

Speaking on the occasion last night at a glittering function in Juhu, Big B said that Rahul's father and santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma's `santoor vaadan' spells of traditions rooted in Indian culture apart from reminding the listeners of the beauty of Kashmir.

"Rahul is carrying forward the tradition of music that comes straight from the heart and hands of Panditji and at the same time he is making a mark with the new-age music. The album is a true confluence of Rahul's upbringing and music which today's youth would like to be part of," Bachchan said. Meanwhile, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma said that as a 'guru' he was happy and satisfied with the quality of music in the album.

"A guru is always the most satisfied man, when his disciple tries and succeeds in doing something which the guru has never attempted," he said. Rahul, who has composed the music of Bollywood films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge, said that he and Richard have tried to create a musical vision, combining the elegance of Piano and gentle santoor and together the pair transcends musical and cultural boundaries.
